Scholarship Fund History and Mission Statement

The Directors of the GARBO Scholarship Fund, Inc. accept and manage direct donations from the public and through the funding efforts of the GARBO Social Club, Inc., a 501(c)(7) entity with a long history of public service to its local constituents. Both our organizations are equally proud of the scholarship program that has been in existence since 1981. GARBO scholarship recipients1, in addition to having graduated from a Montgomery or Frederick County high school, are expected to be official residents of one of those counties at the time of the award. GARBO scholarship recipients have no age floor, but have a ceiling of age 23 as a continuously enrolled, college/trade school undergraduate or student. Thousands of dollars have been donated to deserving students in Montgomery and Frederick Counties. The Scholarship Fund has been renamed in honor of five of our most dedicated members who have passed on, Craig Hackey, Wellington Page, Eugene Plummer, Chester Selby and Kenneth Ricks. Their Spirits will live in our hearts always.
